Como Friends is cleaning house and our stored treasures are a Do-It-Yourselfer’s dream come true.
“Over the decades, we’ve amassed quite a collection of only-at-Como treasures and tools and now it’s time to move it all out,” says Caroline Mehlhop, Como Friends’ Director of Sponsorships and Events. “Since reusing and recycling is part of our conservation mission here at Como Friends, we’re throwing the ultimate garage sale to help all of this cool stuff find a second life.”
Halloween shoppers will find hundreds of furry and fairy-tailed costumes, props, and inflatables perfect for holiday home decorating. Our partners at Goodwill Industries will also be on hand with discount coupons to help you put together your whole Halloween look. The sale runs Sept. 22nd from 10am-3pm and Sept. 23rd from 10am-2pm.
At the two-day sale, creative makers and DIYers will also find shop-ready tool boxes, turnbuckles, grounding pigtails, sanders and saws. There’s even a large selection of only-at-Como artwork, tea sets, silverware, fabric, souvenirs, gift shop fixtures, and other odds and ends ideal for upcycling.
If you’re a Como Friends Member, you’re invited to a first look at hundreds of only-at-Como items during the Saturday pre-sale from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Did You Know?
• Reusing and repurposing household items is a great way to cut your carbon footprint and limit the amount of waste that moves into landfills every year.
• Currently less than 25% of our waste is being recycled, with the remaining being buried or incinerated in landfills.
• Conservation experts estimate that if half of Americans recycled on a regular basis, it would reduce greenhouse emission by the same factor as taking 25 million cars off the road.
Help us make room for the future and raise money for Como Park Zoo and Conservatory at this one-time-only Recycle and Reuse Sale.
