Como Zoo’s historic barn is home to North American mammals of all sizes, from the adorable Arctic fox to the majestic plains bison to the rugged Dall’s sheep—including a new addition, born April 10th!
Join us before Como Zoo opens for the day to get to know the barn’s residents and learn about the adaptations that help them thrive in blustery winters and endure scorching summers.
Built as a Works Progress Administration project, the Old Barn dates to 1938. Featuring rough stonework that was a feature of WPA projects, the octagonal historic barn is one of the oldest structures at Como Zoo.
Como Friends members and donors are invited to join us from 9:00 am – 10:00 am on Saturday, May 20, 2023, for this Special Access Event for Como Friends’ Supporters.
Join us for a morning spent around the Old Barn.
• Hear from expert zookeepers about caring for Como’s North American mammals
• Visit a Nature Walk education station
• Get to know one of Como’s special animal and plant ambassadors
• Take home a fun craft for the little ones
